University History :
In 1919, a government school was established in Pozna under the name of the Higher School of Governmental Machines, and in 1929 a new department was added and the name of the school was modified to the State Higher School of Machines or Electro-Technology, but the development of the university stopped due to the Second World War.
And in 1945 the school received the status of a higher engineering faculty, and in 1955 PUT was officially established a Technological University, and the first rector of the university was Roman Cusack.
In 1995, it became the first Polish university to become a member of the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER), an organization of Europe’s top technical universities.

The campus includes dormitories. The dormitories consist of single, double or triple rooms with a bathroom, refrigerator, kitchen and internet, in addition to a sports center, a medical clinic and a food canteen. Most of the university buildings are adapted for students with disabilities.

University’s library
PUT Library is an institution committed to science, information, and technology. It is an information center and workshop for the educational and research activities of students and faculty members of PUT as well as for the entire engineering community in the Wielkopolska region.
The Library conducts research activities to promote the development of library and information services for PUT members of staff and students.
The library has more than 850,000 items on a wide range of technical topics and licensed electronic resources developed specifically for the fields of study and majors available at the university.
PUT Library is a member of the International Association of University Technological Libraries (IATUL) 1999, and the Poznan Foundation for Scientific Libraries (1996).
On March 12, 2013, it was awarded by the Medal Branch with the “Bibliotheca Magna Perennisque” (Large and Perennial Library) medal for “Outstanding Achievement”.
Sport Center
The Sports Center of Pozna University of Technology was established in 1951 and at the same time the University Academic Sports Union Club (AZS) was formed. All sports center teachers hold professional qualifications for sports coaches and coaches.
The center followed the classes model for training athletes, where students are divided into groups according to their preferences in sports disciplines.
The sports center conducts another type of activity, which is rehabilitation programs for students who have left physical education lessons for medical reasons.
In October 2015, a new sports hall was opened at the Pozna University of Technology. The specially designed structure contains areas for the following sports disciplines: handball, futsal, basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, floorball, tennis.
There is also a first aid room, physiotherapy/doping control area, exercise and fitness rooms, paddling equipment, martial arts (judo, taekwondo, aikido), as well as a gym and other facilities. The auditorium is equipped with portable amphitheaters capable of providing approximately 600 seats

Since 2014 there is a flight center with a modern flight simulator; PUT has a fleet of two aircraft: the Zlin 242L and Extra 330 LX as well as the MDM-1Fox glider.
The university is also a member of the Socrates-Erasmus program for the exchange of students from all over Europe, promoting advanced engineering and a European dimension.
In 2016, the university actively participated in 175 research projects and a large part of the university’s budget was allocated to research.
In November 2016, the Huawei Academy was opened at the Pozna University of Technology, the first of its kind in Poland. A modern laboratory has been built where students can study modern Huawei technologies.
In 2017, PUT was the only Polish institution of higher education to be awarded this year’s Horizon 2020 Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowships.
PUT has also been honored with the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Award for Medical Sciences. The award is given to institutions of higher education whose contributions have enhanced Poland’s position in the international world of science.
