University history:
The history of Lublin Medical University dates back to 1944 when the Faculty of Medicine was included as part of the newly founded Maria Curie-Skodowska University.
In 1945 the fifth faculty of UMCS was established – the Faculty of Pharmacy. It was the second college of pharmacy in Poland (after the establishment of the College of Pharmacy in Warsaw in 1926), being the sixth pharmaceutical educational and scientific center
In 1946 the Chair of Military Medicine was changed to the Military Medical College, then the organizational structure of the Military Medical College was changed (as a result of the chair’s staff joining the UMCS staff strike in the run-up to the people’s referendum in 1946)
In 1949, a decree was issued by the Council of Ministers regarding the establishment of medical academies in Poland.
In 1950, the college separated from MCSU to form the Independent Medical Academy. The College of Medicine (along with the College of Pharmacy) became part of the newly established Medical Academy
Over the years, new areas of research and education have been added, such as nursing, pharmacy or dentistry
In 1952, the Military Academy of the Medical Academy in Lublin was established (by order of the Ministry of Defense).
In 1969, the Faculty of Nursing was established at the Medical Academy in Lublin with a 3-year program and the election of the first president of the center (Associate Professor Marianne Clamot)
In 1972, the Faculty of Nursing was established at the Medical Academy in Lublin with a 4-year program (founded from the Faculty of Nursing) – the first in the history of Poland and Europe Department of Nursing – the third department of the Medical Academy Lublin
In 1976, the Dental Institute was officially opened, which had been established on September 18, 1974
In 1997, the official opening of the Children’s Clinical Hospital (DSK)
And in 2001 the Children’s Clinical Hospital got its name after Prof. Anthony Gibala and in the same year the Department of English was established which offers education in medicine in English to students from all over the world.
In 2003, the university got its name after Professor Felix Skobezovsky
In 2004, a second medical school was formed, introducing new courses: Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Public Health, specializations in Public Health, Emergency Medicine, Clinical Nutrition and Principles of Nutrition.
In 2008, the Medical Academy was transformed into a university, named after Lublin Medical University
In 2012, the Central Council for Science and Higher Education gave a positive opinion to the application submitted by the Central Committee for Degrees and Titles for the award of a doctorate in health sciences to the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences at the Medical University of Lublin.

Autonomous General Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin:
The oldest hospital in Lublin – Established over 70 years ago, General Hospital No. 1 was established in the 18th century and named after Saint Vincent A. Paolo. The name was changed in 1950 to State Clinical No. 1 Hospital.
The first clinic established was dermatology and after the hospital was renamed, the Department of Ophthalmology.
December 11, 1998 The Ministry of Health and Social Services transformed the State Clinical Hospital No. 1 into the Autonomous General Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin.
It has more than 600 beds, more than 35,000 patients per year, more than 15,000 operations per year
Contains 3 banks: hematopoietic cell bank, eye tissue bank and breast milk bank
The mother’s milk bank is the only one in the province of Lublin and works within the Department of Obstetrics and Pregnancy in SPSK1).
University Children’s Hospital
More than 400 beds, 16 highly specialized clinics, 25 specialized clinics, 28,000 patients per year, 6000 operations per year.
The University Children’s Hospital organizes events for young and old children, as well as for their parents.
The renovation started in 2019 and is planned until 2021.
Purchase of new equipment for theaters, diagnostic imaging, hematology, oncology, anesthesia and clinics.
Dental Center
Established in 2020. The new building consists of 8 floors with a total area of 9000 square meters. The facility consists of a multifunctional lecture hall, classrooms, dental offices for standard treatment and a specialized hall using general anaesthesia.
The institute is equipped with 136 dental chairs with the latest instruments and devices, including computerized tomography units.
MU in Lublin plans to develop an outpatient dental clinic for children and adults with a disability certificate, treat complications of oncological treatments, early diagnosis of oral cancer, and treat and monitor patients with precancerous lesions.
Medical Simulation Center:
Opened in October 2018, dedicated to the education of medical professionals and researchers. Teaching in pediatrics, dentists, nurses, obstetricians, physiotherapists and emergency medicine is permitted.

University’s library :
The main library of the Medical University of Lublin has established two stations for readers with visual and hearing difficulties. These stations can be found in the main reading room and in the computer room in the science information section.
The stations are equipped with dedicated keyboards for ZoomText Magnifier / Reader 10 software package to enlarge the contents of the screen, and IVONA speech synthesizer, allowing people with vision or hearing problems to browse the resources available on Windows 8.1 workstations comfortably. Stations also come with Window-Eyes, a plug-in intended for use with Microsoft Office applications.

The Volunteer Center organization was entered into the register of university student organizations in July 2014 by decision of the Rector of the Medical University of Lublin.
Currently, the scientific supervisor of the organization is Mrs. Marzena Samardakiewicz, and the board of directors of the organization consists of students of the Medical University of Lublin. Any student at the Medical University of Lublin can become a member of the center.

Independent Clinical General Hospital No. 4 in Lublin has been awarded ISO certifications, CMJ certification awarded by the Ministry of Health
And in 2013 the Best Healthcare Facility Award – the award given by patients, and since 2000, nurses from PSK4 Hospital have been nominated for the National Competition for Best Nurses in Poland
