The Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is ranked among the best economic schools of higher education in Poland, and is an important center for science and research.

University History:

The Wroclaw University of Economics and Business is an ancient center for scientific and educational activities in the region. It was founded on the initiative of the Wroclaw Association for the Advancement of Economic and Commercial Sciences, founder and original owner, in accordance with the 1937 Law on Privately Owned Higher Education Schools.
_ The majority of the staff was represented by lecturers and former employees of King Jan Kazimierz University and the Academy of Foreign Trade in Lvov, and King Stefan Batory University in Vilnius.
Professor Kamil Stevko was the school’s first elected head of state. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Professor Wincent Stace (Future President of the Higher School of Economics.
The Higher School of Commerce was a single-faculty business school offering 3-year courses in the following disciplines: General Commerce, Cooperative Management, Management and Public Economics, and Business Insurance. _ In 1948, the total number of admitted students was set at 2,817, making the school the second largest higher education institution in western Poland.
_ In 1950, the school was nationalized and transformed into the Higher School of Economics, with two faculties – Industry and Finance. In 1954, it was completed by the College of Engineering and Economics in Food Processing. In 1958, the name of the Faculty of Industry was changed to the Faculty of Corporate Economics, and finally, in 1969, to the Faculty of National Economics (at present, it bears the name of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, since 2006).
In 1974, a new name was officially adopted: the Oscar Lange Academy of Economics. In 1976, the organizational structure was supplemented by another faculty – engineering and information technology. In 1982, a new Sons College of Economics and Municipal Services was established in Jelenia Gora.
On March 18, 2008, by the task force of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland, the name of the school was officially changed to Wroclaw University of Economics.
In 2019, according to the new statute, the university’s official English name changed to Wroclaw University of Economics and Business.

The Wroclaw University of Economics is located within a small campus in the central part of the city. The Faculty of Economics, Management and Tourism has a separate campus in Jelenia Góra.
Infrastructure :
_ Students and the Academy are provided with a modern and well-equipped base of educational, research and leisure facilities in 20 teaching and administrative buildings (in Wroclaw and Jelenia Gora), with a total of 40 lecture halls and 100 spacious and modern halls and workshop rooms.
The total capacity of the educational base is approximately 8 thousand seats.
Research and education at Wrocław University of Economics are complemented by dedicated organizational units, such as the main library, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the Computer Center and the University Publishing House.
_ Facilities for students with disabilities
Most of the buildings have been modified to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Group classes including students with disabilities are organized in the most convenient locations.
_ Within the physical education center there is a sports and rehabilitation center for the disabled.

Computer Center :
On campus there is the university’s computer center. The teaching buildings of the college are equipped with modern computer bases available in the computer

rooms. Modern technology for “cloud” operating systems and according to the concept of “zero client”. Properly selected and implemented software tools to help students use their knowledge in practice. The university benefits from practical, teaching and research from the global computer software company SAP, with significant financial support.

University’s library :

_The Library of the University of Economics in Wroclaw provides staff and students as well as all interested parties with access to traditional collections, electronic resources, wireless Internet and scientific and economic information.
The library is located in the U and W buildings on campus.
_ In the U building there is a lending room and a free access area, the number of readers is more than 448 thousand. Volumes of books and magazines arranged by theme, 21 individual and group work compartments, handicapped equipment and borrowing and automatic return machines.
_ On the ground floor of building W there are seminar and conference rooms and computer laboratories, and on the first floor there is the scientific information department with the reading room OIN, where apart from computers there is a collection of books that have access to electronic resources on European integration.
_ In total, the free access area and OIN reading room provide readers with 115 computers and 300 places for research work.

DCINiE:

Lower Silesian Scientific and Economic Information Center – It functions as a university library and economic information center with the richest collection of books in the field of economic sciences in Lower Silesia.
The Center provides all interested parties with full access to the collections, access to electronic resources, wireless Internet, and comprehensive scientific and economic information.
An object with an area of ​​31 thousand square meters m3 and an area of ​​​​8,200 m2, located on the university campus, and consisting of two parts, interconnected and on the ground floor level with the educational buildings adjacent to the university, and forms an integral part of the existing complex.
In the two-storey building located within the university campus, there are seminar and conference rooms, teaching rooms (computer labs), scientific information management and librarians’ laboratories.
Basic library services are provided in the four-storey building with access from Wielka Street. There is a rental store with a text warehouse on the ground floor. The OIN reading room is located on the first floor. On the four floors of the open access area, readers can choose from approximately 200,000 volumes of books and magazines, and 290 reader spaces near the shelves, including 21 booths for individual and group work, and 60 computers. Wireless internet is available throughout the building.
Thanks to the many facilities, people with disabilities have full access to all services of the center, and for the convenience of readers there is a children’s corner with sanitary facilities on the ground floor.

Publishing house :
The University Publishing House was established in 1955. The unit’s activities are overseen by the Publishing Committee of the University Senate, which was elected to shape the school’s publishing policy. The main task of the publishing house is to provide brochures and printed materials to students and to publicize and disseminate the intellectual efforts of our academic community. The topics represented in the publication policy correspond to the disciplines of interest to the presidents of universities and institutes.

Foreign Language Center:

Students of the University of Economics in Wroclaw learn, according to the current study programme, two foreign languages, choosing from the following: English, German, French, Russian, Spanish and Italian.
The Foreign Language Center also offers Polish language lessons for foreign students and is involved in organizing Chinese and Japanese language courses. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, groups are created in language classes at six levels of progression, from A1 to C2.
SJO conducts general and specialized language classes (economic language) as part of full-time and part-time studies in all faculties of our university.
The center is licensed to take international language tests from reputable institutions such as:
London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cervantes Institute, Goethe-Institut, University for Foreigners in Perugia, Cambridge ESOL.
The center cooperates with other examination centers, such as: Cambridge, the Pushkin Institute in Moscow or the Italian Cultural Institute.

School of physical education and sports:
The study conducts classes in twenty specializations in mathematics. These include: aerobics, badminton, basketball, handball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, strength training, tennis, table tennis, earth ball, rock climbing, dancing, cycling, weightlifting, horse riding, athletics, skiing, snowboarding and snowboarding.
Study, together with AZS, organizes university and intercollegiate competitions as well as championships of Polish economic universities, inter-university championships, national and international championships. The studio has a modern sports base, consisting of two group games, an aerobics room, a room with a climbing wall, a gym, a rehabilitation room and an indoor pool. There is a professional table tennis section of the AZS University Club whose members participate in the first national league and league.

The current faculty and department division of the university is the result of the existence of science schools in the university that can be proud of long traditions and successes at the national and international level. These schools are the basis for research in a particular subject and form the theoretical foundations for the development of science at our university.

The 30th Economic Forum “Europe in Search of Leadership” :
Organized for the 30th time by the Foundation of the Eastern European Institute, the Economic Forum is a meeting place for economic and political groups from Central and Eastern Europe. The first forum was held in 1992. Each year discussions focus on a different theme. In 2021, it is “Europe in Search of Leadership”.
The mission of the Economic Forum is to create a favorable climate for the development of political and economic cooperation in Europe.
_ Larger and larger companies joined the group of partners, and among the invited guests of honor were presidents, government members, eminent scientists and businessmen.
The Forum awards prizes annually in the following categories: Man of the Year, Company of the Year, NGO of the Year, Special Prize and Prize for Economic Forum and Krakow City Council – New Culture for a New Europe.
